How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez
I went into this book not expecting to enjoy it as much as I have. But I did enjoy it. It reminded me about my family and some of the similarities between Hispanic cultures. However, the last chapter of the book ruined the book a but for me because it deals with animal cruelty and I am not one to enjoy reads on that subject. The writing was extremely well done and I didn't mind a lot of the characters. It was just that very last chapter that made me not love the book as I was expecting to. Still, I encourage you read this book if you are curious about Dominican culture. You might learn something new! ^_^
