Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie by Maggie Stiefvater

Well, I'll say this right now. I did not enjoy this book as much as I did Lament. I know this is not the best series out there, but I was a little disappointed in how it was executed. The writing was still decent and easy to get into, but the story wasn't anything mind-blowing and normally that doesn't bother me. However, I was quite unimpressed with how predictable it was.
My biggest disappointment was of the character, Deirdre. In Lament, she had her flaws but she grew as a character. In Ballad, I felt she regressed, becoming a jealous, two-faced snob. She really irritated me and it's such a shame she reverted into a shallow person. *Sighs* Oh well... can't win them all.
I still think Maggie Stiefvater has potential. I see it there, in her writing, and I am very much looking forward to reading her other books. I just wasn't a huge fan of this series. It's an okay series, but that's all I can say about it.
If you like faerie lore and easy reads, then you should give this series a shot. You might end up enjoying it more than I did.
