Uprooted - Naomi Novik

I absolutely adore this book! I really do. I kept hearing pretty negative reviews about this book for a while now and, after I've read it, I think they were being too harsh with the book. It's not the worst book ever written! It's actually quite fun and I think that's the whole point to this book. To be fun! To be entertaining! To just give a few hours of enjoyment. And that's what I got from this book.

The story is really engaging. It's about this wizard and witch trying to stop an evil wood from devouring everything. That's as simple as I can make it without giving anything away. Sure, it's not the most unique storyline ever. BUT it still came up with its own magic and characters and it was just a lot of fun to read.

My only critique about this book is the writing style. Novik has a very unique writing style and it might take some getting used to. However, it didn't deter from my enjoyment of the book. Also, this has nothing to do with the book itself, but did you know that Novik is an architect for the site AO3? I didn't until I read it in this book! That's just amazing!

If you decide to pick up this book, pick it up for its enjoyment purposes. Don't try to pick up something just to analyse it to death. That ruins the experience of the book. Just read it to have fun! I know I did!
