The House You Pass on the Way by Jacqueline Woodson
I really enjoyed reading this book. I had no idea what to expect from this book going into it and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a story about a mixed-race girl discovering herself, her sexual orientation, and what she wants to do in life. It was very short but very touching. I liked the simplistic writing style and overall tone of the book. The ending was bittersweet but I think it was necessary to show that not everything in life goes the way you want it to.
If you like coming of age stories with a not-so-happy-ending, then I think you are going to enjoy this book.
