As a child, I did not get to read any of the Babar books. I mostly read a bunch of Clifford and Dr. Seuss when I was younger so when I saw the original at the library a while back, I decided to give it a try. And I found that it's a pretty nice story.
The book follows the life of Babar. From the time he's a baby elephant to the time he is an adult and starts discovering what makes him happy in life.
I'll be honest that this is not my favorite children's classic. I thought the story moved from one point to the next rather quickly, which made it a bit difficult to get into the story. However, I enjoyed the writing and the artwork tremendously. I think that this is a book that everyone should read at least once to see that life can't always be perfect but that it can get better.
I really did like this book despite it's fast pacing and I think children will definitely enjoy The Story of Babar.
